Liverpool Agree Deal With Southampton To Sign Virgil Van Dijk

Could Virgil van Dijk finally be about to follow half of Southampton's former players in the journey to Anfield? It seems like the two clubs involved have finally agreed a deal for the transfer.
Back in the summer it's fair to say we, along with many other news outlets, were a bit quick to pull the trigger on Van Dijk moving to Liverpool and that made Southampton think something fishy was going on and they reported Liverpool for tapping up.
The Reds backed off making a move for him and Jurgen Klopp forgot that other centre back exist and didn't sure up his defence in the slightest and no club in the top six has conceded more than them

Talk of a move for Van Dijk has never gone away and, even though Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona have all shown interest, word was that Anfield remained the players first choice.
Now, according to the Telegraph, it is Liverpool who have 'won the race' to sign the former Celtic centre back after agreeing a £75 million fee for the player, making him the most expensive defender ever.
Saints were determined to keep hold of the 26 year-old in the summer and are believed to have turned down an enquiry from Chelsea, who were willing to pay £60 million for the player.
Manchester City also had him on top of their wanted list for the January window but with Liverpool offering more than Pep Guardiola's side were going to and having a £180k-a-week contract ready for him he looks set for Anfield.
Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy's moves to Manchester City both broke the record fee for a defender back in the summer but this fee well eclipses both those deals by over £20 million.
The Dutchman has not been selected for the last two Southampton games and the money made is likely to be given to Mauricio Pellegrino to boost his failing team.
